Privacy Policy

Summary

Your notebooks stay on your device by default. Cloud sync is opt-in via Google sign-in. We don’t sell your data, run ads, or track you across the web.

What we collect

  • Google account info (name, email, profile photo) — only if you choose to sign in. Used to associate your notebooks with your account. You can use the app without an account.
  • Notebook content — stored in your browser (IndexedDB) and optionally synced to Google Cloud Firestore under your user ID. Without an account, it never leaves your device.
  • Uploaded images — stored in Cloudflare R2 under your user ID. Only accessible via your notebooks. Requires an account.
  • No analytics or tracking— we don’t run Google Analytics or any other tracking script, and we don’t record page views.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
  • We don’t display ads.
  • We don’t use tracking cookies (only functional localStorage).
  • We don’t train AI models on your content.
  • We don’t read your notebooks. Your content is private unless you explicitly publish it.

Data storage

  • Local: IndexedDB in your browser. Clearing browser data removes it.
  • Cloud: Google Cloud Firestore (US region). Encrypted at rest and in transit. Access restricted to your Google UID.
  • Images: Cloudflare R2 (global CDN). Files are keyed to your user ID.

Data deletion

You can delete individual notebooks, pages, or your entire account data at any time. Deleted content is moved to the recycle bin first, then permanently removed from both local storage and Firestore when you empty the bin.

To request full account deletion, contact us via GitHub or sign out — your cloud data can be purged on request.

Third-party services

  • Google OAuth — authentication only.
  • Google Cloud Firestore — notebook sync.
  • Cloudflare R2 & Pages — image storage and hosting.
  • Google Analytics — anonymous page view counts.

Each service has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data required for each service to function.

Children’s privacy

The app is intended for educators and students of all ages. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
